As a retired physician, I found this book full of practical information for anyone interested in maintaining good overall health, especially bone health.This year my wife sustained a fracture following a simple fall.Although she has a caring Primary Care physician and has had vitamin D levels done and DEXA scans, she still was still osteoporotic, in spite of vitamin supplementation.The very capable orthopedic surgeon who took care of this fracture, did not address her osteopenia other than tosay she was "very osteoporotic".Dr. Lieberg is so accurate in stating that ANYONE with a fracture should have their vitamin D level addressed.His recommendations are excellent and correct in my opinion. Vitamin D, Magnesium, and Calcium supplements for nearly everyone, especially anyone over 40.He points out that one in three women and one in five men over the age of 50 will suffer an osteoporotic fracture. And when it is a hip fracture, one in five women and one in three men dying with in a year, even after having survived surgery!Osteoporosis accounts for more hospital days than any other disease. Including diabetes, heart attacks, and breast cancer! The economic consequences are enormous!I highly recommend this book.Read it, consider the suggestions, and get your primary care and orthopedic surgeon to read it!
