Lame politicization of your vacation choices!The book itself was fairly useful as an overview, but was not very detailed or comprehensive "on the ground" for finding restaurants, etc in a particular location (e.g. MoBay). My view is it is "over-curated," with many places left off, perhaps because the author felt "uncomfortable" around Jamaicans.I stopped reading altogether after this gem:"Don't fall into the Liberal trap of buying something (from a local) so that you don't feel racist"What a shameful piece of writing that diminishes the reader and the local Jamaicans, all of whom were very sweet and polite people who had no trouble allowing me to move on if I did not want to make a purchase in their shop.If you can afford to, feel free to spread the love (and money) around Jamaica, as there is lots of income inequality and poor folks just trying to get by. And if you are a racist (as this author is afraid you are), just don't go, please.

Backpacked Jamaica for a month, this book is slightly for the adventure traveler and slightly for the family tourist. We were surprised that there were not very good directions about where to get on and off the bus or route taxi, only telling you to tell the driver to drop you off at the destination. As soon as a driver hears anything that can possibly be considered a tourist spot the price goes from 2 dollars to 50 dollars. by the end of our month I could have added a whole nother 100 pages data, mostly directions and lessons a person only going for a week or 2 will never figure out.

This is a Great travel guide to Jamaica. It covers Jamaica from A to Z with lots of great tips for travelers of all kind: singles, couples, groups and/or families. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to visit Jamaica with an honest, up-to-date guide that is like a bible for any traveler! Easily a 5 star read!
