About the Author

Sam Adoquei is the author of Strand Books' #1Bestseller How Successful Artists Study. The author's professional artistic career started at 14 years of age in Ghana. When I ordered this book I thought it would be something I'd like, but I wasn't prepared for how inspiring it would be. Someone mentioned that it talks about things people already think about, but I'd like to add that it presents those thoughts in a new light. During a time in my life when I needed some inspiration to get back on track, this book game me peace of mind and encouragement to look within myself to succeed in meeting personal goals. The author is a kind and communicative gentleman as well, which fits right along with the encouragement this wonderful book provides its readers. While the book showcases painting, the reader can relate the subject matter to just about any art form. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for inspiration, as well as Mr. Adoquei's other book, "How Successful Artists Study". They will change your outlook on everything. I'm thankful I found them. "Life is one big road with lots of signs, So when you riding through the ruts, don't you complicate your mind (Bob Marley)."

I remember liking this book when I first started reading it. Adoquei has some interesting and insightful things to say. But I just discovered it on my shelf the other day and realized I hadn't yet read the last two essays. Just read them earlier today and was blown away. If you don't walk away blown open with inspiration, motivation, purpose, and understanding....I don't know what to tell you.Doesn't hurt that the author is close with one of my favorite musical artists : )

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Adoquei many months ago at a wedding. He exudes inspiration, and after speaking with him for twenty minutes or so about art, inspiration and what compels us as artists, I was eager to get home and begin working on my unfinished manuscript. Since then, I have gone to his book whenever I hit a creative dry spell and need that mentoring voice I remembered so well. I think many artists get caught up in the mind games of talent, but Mr. Adoquei reminds us there are five qualities for great accomplishment: inspiration, passion, talent, skill and vision. All qualities must be nurtured, and each chapter massages the creative mind. A truly inspirational read.

Sam Adoquei is SO inspirational! This is a book that is keeper. You will find yourself re-visiting it from time to time.
