I had no idea this book would have such a powerful impact on me. It is one of those books you don't really know you need to read until you do and then while you are reading it you feel like the book was written for you...I really love Bob's writing style, it flows nicely and word after word is full of encouragement and gentle nudging to simply have the faith to move forward in whatever it is God is calling you to do, even if you are afraid and feel completely unworthy.If you are looking for a great book that will encourage you in your walk to serve God in ministry, or in life, then this book is for you. It is also a great book to be used within Bible Study groups.

The first page of this book caught my interest, and I am certainly thankful that it did. This book is a rare find. The author helps the reader understand the story of Elijah by explaining the culture and traditions during Elijah's times. He then challenges the reader to translate the lessons Elijah had to learn into our culture, and then apply those lessons to our lives. This book does not address a denominational viewpoint, instead it addresses providing Christians of any background with a logical system for resolving life issues.

Using the life and times of the prophet, Elijah, Bob Saffrin shows what we need to do to become this useful to God. Elijah was an ordinary man, running scared part of the time, and yet he was able to do great things when he turned everything over to God. He brought a widow's son back to life and enabled them to have food through the three-year drought. He channeled God's power to defeat the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel and went to heaven in a flaming chariot. With Elijah as an example, the author gives the reader the steps necessary and those helpful in fulfilling our potential for God.There were several mistakes in the book, like both missing commas and unnecessary ones. Sometimes there was a period before the parenthesis in source notations, and sometimes it was after the parenthesis, as it should be. "Were" was used for "where" at least once. The pronouns for God or Christ were never capitalized. I know this isn't grammatically incorrect, but I prefer Christian authors to so as a way to show respect and honor for God. A couple of times Saffrin puts various passages together to sound as if they appear in a different sequence than they do in order to prove his point. The book also ended rather abruptly. I would have preferred a stronger wrap-up.I did enjoy the book, however. It had some strong messages about how God can't use us until we turn everything and all of us over to Him. I think this a crucial message for the church today, where there are way too many lukewarm Christians. I found this book so inspiring, I'm using it as a springboard to do more readings on Elijah and God's messages to us from his life.

This is an awesome book Saffrin uses Elijah' s life to show us how GOD works through us. It tells what can happen when you turn to GOD for all your needs. It tells how much GOD loves us and wants us to spend eternity with HIM. It tells how you can have GOD'S power to do amazing works in the LORDS name. It is right up front by telling you to do these things you have to travel a very very hard road. Then GOD never said this life or following HIM would be easy. It tells about how GOD knows we are screw ups and we will fail more times than not but that GOD still loves us. It uses Elijah' s life and scriptures to back up everything it tells you. This is a very religious and inspiring book. Any religious or spiritual person should read this book. I intend to read Saffron book on Moses next. More Please.Papa Place

How could the Author have such an insight into the spirit and the man of Elijah, Obadiah, Moses and Elisha at a pivotal time in life with God? How could he have such an insight into my spirit at such a pivotal time in life with God? And yet, he knew and was able to put it on paper precisely as it happened in spirit and in the man/woman. It was as if he lived it with them and with me. Little did I know how much I had in common with those in this book as we humanly try to live according to His will. At a pivotal moment, I ran in fear too and afterwards felt God and myself asking me, "What are you doing?" I now have a closer connection and deeper respect for all the people brought to life again through this book. I also have a deeper respect and love for God! I have a new strength in spirit, in Christ ... to persevere, continue seeking God and listen for His still. quiet voice. Through prayer, the Bible and now this book... I am reaffirmed that God truly doesn't leave us! Thank you, Bob Saffrin, for this most wonderful, insightful work of heart. Elijah, the spirit and the man.

I love this book! It was inspiring an offered challenges from the lid of Elijah to help us walk with God well in this present age. It ends with some explanation of the relationship between Elijah an his protege Elisha who asks to receive a double portion of the power of God Elijah had. God granted that to Elisha. They serve examples to us as to the power of God in our live and ministry. You will find many applicable and contemporary challenges an applications for our lives today. Get this book! I think you will enjoy it an be challenged as well. This I my second book by this author. It won't b my last!

For those who are looking for the steps to take to fulfill their God inspires destiny, this book is for you. It walks the journey through Elijah’s life pointing out Key character traits that he had that allowed God’s power to flow through him. Importantly it also highlights Elijah’s struggles, and provides a meaning for those and describes his way out. Anyone who wants to move forward in their path in life will identify with this book. I would love to see a book written by the same author about the life of Elisha as well.
